For a hybrid system, comprised of micro gas turbine CCHP and groundwater heat pump, with a case study of a representative hospital in Beijing, separately taking annual total cost and annual natural gas saving rate as optimization objectives, studies optimal design and operation rules of the hybrid system in the three operational strategies of following the electric load, the thermal load and energy saving. The results show that the hybrid system has comprehensive advantages in various aspects, such as economic, energy saving and electric load shaving characteristics, compared with the conventional scheme of electrical refrigerating machine plus gas boiler plus mains supply and the groundwater heat pump scheme. It is also shown that the hybrid system, compared with the system of natural gas combined cycle plus gas boiler plus electrical refrigerating machine, does not save energy in traditional operational strategies of following the electric load and the thermal load, but can save energy in energy-saving-oriented operational strategy.
